Slum” is the name of a psychedelic trance trackmaker by Shuji, who continues to instigate a fun drop-out from the controlled society.

Shuji’s musical journey began with psychedelic rock as a toddler, and after releasing music as a member of a Punk/Hardcore band, he entered the rave scene, and after working as “PHI” (2001-2004)In 2005, he started his career as Slum.

He started listening “Psychedelic Rock music” when he was very young, then formed a rock band and released CDs, and stepped in to psy-trance field. He travels all over the world and visits unexplored regions, holy places, ghettos, and refugee camps, and expresses what he sees and feels by trance music.

He continues to connect boundaries Overground psytrance scene, Undeground psytrandce scene and Rockband scene.

Since 2008, he has been running “Sunflowers of Today,” a music collective based on the concept of travel, freedom, and outdoor parties, with key players from all over Japan, and has held “Last Summer Trip,” a remote island D.I.Y. party on five islands in Japan.

Under the name DJ SZ, he is a free-farm DJ with omnidirectional access to all musical genres and environments. He is also involved in almost all of his own art productions, which are both visual and auditory.

2002

·Europe Tour. Round trip from Hungary to Portugal by his driving car 8000km. Played in 5 countries.

2005

·Slum 1st Album “Make Rainboe in Your Slum” Release.
·DJ TSUYOSHI compile V.A. “Far East Psytrance League 2005” Release.

Since then, his annual Play number has exceeded 40.

2006

管理社会からの楽しいドロップアウトを扇動し続けるShujiによるPsychedelic Tranceトラックメイカー名義「Slum」
Shujiの音楽遍歴は幼児体験でのサイケデリックRockから始まり、Punk・ Hardcoreバンドとしての活動を経たのちレイヴシーンへと繋がり、「PHI」(2001年-2004年)名義でPsytranceトラックメイカーとしてデビュー。2005年Slumとしての活動をスタート。2023年現在までにSlum名義で3枚のフルアルバムをリリース。

Slumの楽曲は世界を旅するShujiが滞在先の秘境、聖地のみならず貧民街、難民キャンプまで上下左右全てを見、全てを感じるというスタンスで取り入れたエッセンスをTrance Musicとして表現した、全ての人々に向けた人生賛歌です。

海外からのLiveオファーは、オーストラリアビッグフェス「Earthcore Carnival」中南米グアテマラ「Cosmic convergence」など多数。現在までに世界11カ国でPlay。

また、日本国内においてもRebirth Festivel、渚音楽祭、春風などのビックフェスティバルのみならず、獏原人村満月祭、Space Gathering、Mind Of Vision、命の祭り、ええやないか、などアンダーグラウンドパーティ、またUnite Camp、蔵王龍岩祭、伊賀ロックフェスティバルなどロックフェスティバルでのPlayもコンスタントにこなし、オーバーグラウンド・アンダーグラウンド・バンドシーンの境目を繋ぎ続けています。

2008年より、旅と自由と野外パーティがコンセプトの音楽集団「Sunflowers of Today」を日本全国のキーマンと共に運営、離島D.I.Yパーティ「Last Summer Trip」を現在までに国内5島で開催。
2015年にはSlum 3rd Albumリリースフリーパーティを新宿東口アルタ前で開催、2000人超のPartyPeopleを集結させました。

DJ SZ名義では全方位にアクセスするフリーファームなDJとして音楽ジャンル、環境を問わず活動。

また自身に関するほぼ全てのヴィジュアル制作物を手がけ、視覚・聴覚と双方から発信しています。

2002年

夏、ハンガリーからポルトガルの陸路8000kmを自ら運転して回るヨーロッパツアー。5ケ国でプレイ。
秋、タイ・パンガン島にてプレイ。
コンピレーションCD「After 10 Years Of Japanese Trance」に楽曲を提供。
海外コンピレーションCD 「Map Of Goa」, 「Goa Volume 9」に楽曲を提供。

2005年

以前にも増して日本に目を置き、国内を飛び回る。

2008年

初夏、2nd Album「Sunflowers of Today」リリース。
リリースパーティはバンド時代からの馴染みの深い下北沢で2店舗貸切で開催された。
秋、離島パーティ「Last Summer Trip 八丈島」を開催。
